 Day: 1 Arrival in Dakar

Breakfast at the hotel - Short walking and visit of Dakar - visit on the theme "African cultural sources in Senegal and Gambia" , by a teacher of the university of Dakar - Complete visit of Dakar in the afternoon - Welcoming dinner in a typical Senegalese restaurant - Overnight in Dakar

Day: 3 GOREE ISLAND

Breakfast and departure for a pilgrimage on the Island   There, you will visit the slaves' house followed by some minutes’ silence in the memory of those Africans who definitely went to America for slavery - A conference on the theme << Three hundred years' slave trade in West Africa >> will be organised for the visitors - You will -then- visit the history museum - the fortress - and have a talk with the inhabitants on the island - Return to Dakar in the afternoon where you will spend the night.

Day: 4 FREE DAY IN DAKAR

Day: 5 THE PINK LAKE

Breakfast and departure to visit the Pink Lake and its neighbouring villages where you will get in touch with the local population and meet different village chiefs - You will finally attend a naming ceremony lead by the notables of the old village.

Day: 6 DAKAR

Farwell dinner in a restaurant - overnight in Dakar

Late in the afternoon, transfert to the airport - police formalities and departure for Bamako - Arrival - Welcoming - Visit - Transfer - and settling at the hotel. Day: 8 BAMAKO – TOMBOUCTOU

Breakfast early in the morning and departure for the mysterious city of Timbuktu by domestic flight - Setting at the Azalaï Hotel or similar - Visit of town - you will see the main mosques (Sankoré, Djingareiber,) explorers’ houses (René CAILLE, BARTH etc...) the municipal museum, a short walk in the common quarters, tour in camel back in the afternoon - Dinner and overnight in Timbuktu.

Day: 9 TIMBUKTU –MOPTI

Early in the morning departure for Mopti by ‘4X4 - Settling at the Kanaga hotel - Visit of Mopti - The mosque - the common quarters - the fishing port - tour in canoes in the afternoon during which you will visit some Bozo fishing villages settled along the river. Overnight in Mopti.’

Day: 10 MOPTI - DJENNE –MOPTI

Departure towards the weekly market at Djenné, a perfect opportunity to witness the wide variety of ethnic group who live along the Niger River valley. This is also a good time to admire the remarkable adobe forms of the so-called Sudanese architecture. Return to Mopti in the afternoon. Overnight in hotel.

Day: 11 MOPTI – DOGONLAND

From Mopti you will go to discover the Dogon land - As soon as we arrive, we shall settle in the encampment of Sangha - Visit the village - With the help of a Dogon guide, you will learn everything on the history, tradition and cosmogony of the Dogon people - you will go down the cliffs to attend a symbolic Dogon mask dance - Overnight in Sangha.

Day: 12 DOGON COUNTRIES

When you leave Sangha, you will go past the village of Songo where you will see the high places of circumcision in the Dogon land before reaching Mopti. Setting in the encampment - Lunch and canoeing on the River Niger - Overnight in Mopti

Day: 13 MOPTI –BAMAKO

Once more, you will go to the Mopti-Sévaré airport and board for Bamako by domestic flight - Settling in Grand hotel - Overnight in Bamako

Day: 14 BAMAKO – flight

Free morning for your shopping and private trips - transfer to the airport late in the afternoon and flight ending an African journey through the two representatives of the African tradition and culture.
